I had my first hypnotherapy session today. I think it went well. I guess time will tell. I have another appointment next Friday. Has anyone out there done hypnotherapy, if so what were you trying to solve?

I went to a group session once at the mall to quit smoking. it did not work for me. maybe a one on one session works better. what did you go for? do you think it is working?

We concentrated on the OCD yesterday. I have a bad habit of dermatichlamania (that is probably spelled wrong) basically skin picking, it is classified the same as cutting but I was always uncomfortable with that.
So far it didnt stop overnight :) but I didn't expect it to. I have had this habit since I was 8 and I am now 33. But I have noticed that I am more aware of it and that I actually become nauseous when I think about it. I dont know it that is because of the session or not. Time will tell.

What is the purpose of this therapy, if you don't mind telling me. I heard it's good to get rid of bad habits. No I never have one but would like to if I can hear true success story.

Yes, I have had a successful encounter with hypnotherapy. I was terrified of cats. When I was a small child I used to have my mittens threaded through my coat and they dangled on elastic, so that I would not lose my mittens. A huge ginger cat decided to play with one of these mittens but it missed and savaged my leg. I was not that badly injured but I was so afraid of cats that I would cross the road rather than walk past one.
This was obviously not a situation that was comfortable or practical and in my early twenties I had hypnotherapy to cure this.
To date I have taken in two cats when their owners lost their home, and loved them to pieces, so I think you could say that yes, for me hypnotherapy worked very well.
I hope you have as good a result. Incidentally, I found that I was wonderfully relaxed and felt wonderful for several days after each session!
