many of us argues about reading and watching tv...which is preferable for you reading or watching tv? Some critics shows it this way: 1. For a child, we must enhance his ability to read, because as he keep on reading on a certain books, he is creating pictures in his mind and uses his imagination and points of reference to put the story together, WHILE, television exposure do not go through a symbolic complex transmission, the mind does not decode and manipulate during the television experience. When the child or all of us people are dependent on televisions, it reduces our oppurtunities to indulge our inner picture making accounts for the curious inability of so many people or children having adjust to nonvisual experience. If we keep on patronizing and do not have time to read even 15 minutes it will greatly affect our recognition, decoding, thinking, spelling ability and vocabulary which is important now adays...

Hey I usually read a book AND watch tv! :)) And I can do both. I can multi task easily I think cause of my A.D.D. I cant stand to JUST watch tv or movies at home without doing something else (video game, reading, going online, etc.) However I think I prefer um either? I love to read cause its good to do so and its fun! But at the same time I'm visual. Sometimes watching a movie is great too. Try watching movies based on books then going and reading the books afterwards! But if I had a kid I think I would limit tv time and make them have more book time as well! I was reading at a young age, my mom said 4 years old so I want my kids to do the same. I think smart kids read early! I was in G.A.T.E. program from grade 2nd through 7th! :))

I agree that reading is very important. Espically when it comes to children. I love reading as well as watching TV. My hubby on the other hand thinks that if the book good enough they'll make a movie, documentry or something about it. I read a lot at work - on my breaks and my lunch. That's about the only time I have time to read.

Well, I can't live without the books and the TV! I can't choose. If there's something good on TV, then it's the TV. If there's nothing good, then it's either the book or the Internet.

I prefer reading to watching tv. If I get into a book, I tend to read it hours on end until I've finished. You can't really do that with a tv show - it'll take way to long and unless you have all the episodes you're stuck waiting. I do watch tv though, it's extremely entertaining and a nice half hour/hour break for me when I'm studying. However, when it comes to watching movies or show adapted from books, I find I enjoy the books a lot more. It's so much more indepth and the shows tend to leave a lot of holes. Also, each time you reread a book, you discover new things that were hidden from you in the earlier readings. Rereading a book is a lot more satisfying that rewatching a show. I think it's extremely important to encourage a child to read, especially since so many things in our world are only available in text form (textbooks, science journals, instruction manuals, etc lol). I believe you can only improve your writing by reading.

preference for reding an dwatching should be given in following basis: 1. children should be let reading more than watching asit increases their abilioty of vocabulary, speking and speelng correctnesss along with their habit to reaad new books day by day and take interest in readng books with varoius subject. 2. the grown ups should watch tv (various prgramms)and understand ther eal and moving image of any living being. he could easily understand the meaning by watching its figure. thiss ia all wha i think share urs other ideas too

I prefer both...but i am an avid reader so does my kids. If we worry that our children watch too much TV, then as parents we should set an example. when my kids see me read every night, they also become interested. Now they read collect and read books as well as watch TV. At night they read and they watch TV during the day.

I dont know if I would pick one over the other in a definitive decision. Yet, reading is a more satisfying experience. Its an interactive activity, it exercises your mind, and makes proper use of your imagination, which makes it more rewarding. When you are watching television, you feel as if you could have been doing something more productive with your time.

I think it depends on my mood. I like watching tv when I just want to do some brainless relaxation--and basically just watch whatever is on the boob tube. However, if i want to relax on a more intellectual level, of course, a book is the way to go!

I am never a couch-potato and I was never. Actually I hardly watch TV, I always keep shy of watching TV. Whenever I feel like watching a film, I use my collection of CDs and I watch the film on my computers. I do have good collection of film CDs. They are neither Hollywood nor bollywood. All are great moviemakers' creations. Apart fron watching films, I read books most time of the day. And I do have a good collection of books which sustain me very creatively. Books are my best companion.I remain immersed in books to be in touch with the world and people.

Time Management is necessary. Today lots of information are commng out from TV, from newspaper, from the books. One hour on the TC, One hour on the newspaper, one hour on the books.

That's depends on the kind of information you're talking about and the time available, for example if you're work it's gonna be easier watch the television and get informed about what's happening, but for children the best way to stimulate their minds is reading books.

I rather read or listen to music. I just watch Tv when there's a particular show that may interest me.
