Scientifically, the sun is not rising and setting, it is the earth that revolves around the sun in a particular orbit. The position of the earth determines our view of the sun as it appears on the horizon, this gives us the impression that the sun is rising which actually it isn't. Although it appears rising because we don't feel the motion of the earth revolving.

Earth is rotating and it's a known fact and many people get confused with this revultion of earth and do start thinking about sun setting from west and sun rising from east isn't it? actually, it is our illusion as you said as earth keeps revolving around the sun and it is not the sun which is revolving .. Anyway's, thanks for responding

LOL well it's very logical. The earth spins to the east, so it will always appear like the sun is rising from the east. If the sun should rise from the west the earth would have to start spinning the other way, that wont happen :-)

Actually, the sun doesn't rise or set. The sun stays still. The earth is the one that moves, and it only appears to us that the sun rises and sets.

Are you on medication? The sun does not revolve around the earth. In fact the sun does not move, per se. The Earth, in a 24 hour period rotates on it own axis, and revolves around the sun approximately 365 days. Thus, the creation of calendars, weeks, day from night,..etc...
