Computer not working properly?

My computer is running very slow. Earlier RAM was 128 mb RAM now I added 256 MB of RAM . But still its too slow . Wat should I do to increase its speed?

Better format the PC and install only important softwares...Install also some good antivirus,..

scan your pc, defragment your drive, keep only necessary data in your drive. don't use heavy softwares in slow pc. best of luck

Try to increase processor speed or delete unnecessary things

Delete all the temporary files from your computer on regular basis. A large number of softwares loaded also decrease the speed of computer, keep only the very essential ones.Try this may be this might increase your speed.

when ever u upgrade ur PC format it and install windows again.

there are a lot of suspects. of course the first one is the hardware specifically the processor and memory. 384mb of ram is not that good specially if you have winxp. then there's the hard drive. if you have the 5200rpm and run xp on it, it's surely slow. then consider file fragmentation. abd a lot more, the list could go on and on...

i think u should defragment and erase memory the best thing to do is format ur pc and then keep it in good condition like installing only neede items and uninstallin the useless 1s good antivirus like zone alarm firewal!!keep your computer clean~~

whats your processor speed? when was the last time u defragment your computer remove all popups, unwanted programs, free some hard disks

If you didn't format your hard drive for along time you should it definitely help fresh things up a little. Viruses can slow your PC as well so if you don't want to format your hdd do a full system scan with your antivirus and see what it finds you could be surprised... Last but not least check inside of your PC if wires are not blocking the ventilation and coolers are working properly and your PC isn't overheating. And try upgrading the CPU as well if you think it's very weak.
