How often do you clean out your cats litter box? What type of litter do you use and do you use anything for the stench? I use Arm & Hammer multi cat for mine and I also like to put baking soda on top when it becomes old. I try to clean mine out every day, but sometime it goes 3-4 days:( I feel bad for the guy when that happens, but I just have so much to do and I get sick and things fall down hill.

Lily - Lily is a very particular cat!
Only one of my 5 cats uses litter. The others prefer to go outside. I use the clay stuff as I think it is more natural, and she seems to prefer it. I change it twice a day, because Lily is very particular (a right "little lady" ), and if she has used her litter once, she refuses to use it again! She just sits there and cries!

HI there catseyes. I use TidyCat - its a clumping cat litter and it's excellent. And for cleaning it out i empty it out and spray it with a hose and spray bleach in there and then hose it out again and let it dry and refill it again. Quick and easy. I've tried other cat litters but i really recommend the "Tidycat" clumping litter.

i have 2 kitties so i am cleaning up their litter box every other day mostly just so that it is clean for them. i amslo use the scoop away brand because that is what seems to be the best for me. it last for a very long time, and clumps nice. i tried the arm and hammer brand but i didn't care for it.

I used to use Scoop-Away but then switched to Tidy Cat scoopable. My cat pictured decided not to use the litter box anymore and couldn't figure out why for 3yrs. Would only go outside. Thennnn Arm & Hammer was on sale the day I was buying more cat litter so bought that instead. Guess what? Lightning is back to using the litter box again. He just didn't like the Tidy Cat for some odd reason. Now I'm going to buy Arm & Hammer super scoop or Scoop-Away. Go Figure! lol

opps...forgot to add that I clean out the litterbox roughly twice a day. Lightning prefers a clean box and definately won't use it if it's too dirty. He lets me know when it needs cleaning by standing just outside of the opening and meowing at me. lol

We use the Arm &Hammer as well. We recently switched to the flushable litter. Since we are attempting to train our female cat to stay away from the birds the litter box now lives in our bathroom. This make it much easier to clean out.

I scoop daily. I add as needed and completely replace it about every 2-3 weeks. I use the tidy cats multi cat litter and my cats seem to have no problem with the way I'm doing it. At least, they keep going back to it.

I use a mixture of cedar chips and Tidy Cats multiple cat litter to help keep the stench down. I clean it everyday to keep the build up of number two getting to much and afterwards I spray it with that Zero Odor spray. The cedar chips will help soak up the pee and ammonia smell. Not to mention when they scratch in the litter box the cedar smell is much more pleasant than just smelling the litter.

Oh wow, you guys make me feel as though I am a bad kitty mom. I normaly clean the litterbox twice a week only! I have one cat. I use the Tidy Multicat Formula because I fear of the smell of urine. Once I smell it it seems to take hours for it to go away. I dump it every month to manth and a half and give the box a good washing and treat with lysol. I have been wanting to try the scoopable type of litter but am worried that the cat wont like it and will maybe find a new place to "go".

We havent done the daily thing every day for ages. We used to all the time clean it out once a day. Now a days, we sadly just change the whole thingt every other week if possible. Yeah I know. We use the yellow bag its um tidy cat the one for longer lasting orders. The box is kept in my sisters room, where the two cats live. Smelly as can be. At our old house we moved from last November. We shared a room and they used to have the box in our room. NEVER noticed the smell till I didnt have it in my room. Now its like, you keep the box no thanx ;) heehee

I use the TidyCat "small spaces" scoopable litter. It has a very powerful odor control, and clumps up very hard for scooping. I have four cats, so the box has to be scooped out every day... and I have to top it off about twice a week, as material is removed. However, the entire box doesn't need to be changed but maybe every 5-6 weeks, at which point the clay powder that binds the litter starts to wear out and the "clumps" that should normally form instead break apart. I also keep an open box of baking soda next to the box, which is in the large closet with the washer and dryer.

I have one little cat who my parents currently look after.. We use the crystal type litter.. It never smells! We would clean it out every time she does a number two but the whole box gets done every two to three weeks. This litter is great I once tried the other one.. Sand or something? It was terrible! Messy and smelly! Also, my Mam has just recently started using these litter tray liners so you put them in the tray and fill it with litter.. They make cleaning it out a lot easier. I really miss my little kitty. Even cleaning out the poop tray. =(

I clean out the litter box every other day. With three cats the box gets filled quickly. We have two boxes that we use and even so they both need scooping. I have been using Walmart's brand of scoopable litter. It is Special Kitty Crystal Blends. I have used other brands and found that this is the best.

I have a huge pile of sand out in the corner of the garden for my kittens, and once a month I go and take out the top part and bury it. Have a nice day!

We buy clay litter and anything that is on sale. Tends to be Owner's Choice though. We don't have to clean them out very often since the boys go in and out alot. More so in the summer. We do tend to clean them out weekly since they aren't used daily it is not a problem. Also our cats eat well so they don't have extra smelly doings. Being balanced gives them reasonable doings. We do normally put baking soda in the bottom of the litter pan and put the litter atop that. It does help.

I only like the scoopable litter....I clean it out every other day. And like once a month I dump out the stuff in another container to wash the walls and then put it back in. I am like you I feel bad when it is full and dirty for them....

I use old newspapers and change them at least once a day, particularly if there is poop. I also have two litterboxes, one in the kitchen and one in the sunporch. I keep the boxes clean, but my Waffles will occasionally poop on the sunporch floor. And just the other day, she pooed on my kitchen floor. It was like litterbox be damned!

We use clumping litter. We have 4 cats and 2 litterboxes, and they get cleaned once a day. We don't have any problems with stench, but just in case, there is an air freshener plugged into the outlet near the cat boxes.
