i was told i would not beable to have children. when i did carry my baby i was high rist of loseing my baby. so for 7 months i worry i would lose my baby. when i saw my baby for first time it would of never bother me if was missing a finger toe, that was a part of me,all the kicks, hurts, worry, was gone when that baby came into my arms, the love i had took over.this was a gift from god, a part of me. it was still is best thing to happen to me.im glade i had my baby, to see smile, laugh, tears, all worth the worry. i had. when them little arms come around your kneck with big hug wet kiss, notthing better than that.

When we were pregnant with our daughter (Now 7) at our 18 week sonogram we found out something was wrong. They said one leg looked shorter, and it was most likely downes syndrome. We were devestated to say the least. We were told more tests needed to be done and if it was downes, my husband and I would need to talk about continuing on with the pregnancy or not. I had to go into the city, for countless blood work, ultrasounds, my husband and I met with genetic counselors, I also have a fetal mri done. My emotions were mixed, I was depressed, confused, and had no clue about anything. Early in testing we found it was not downes syndrome. Our daughter has Proximal Focal Fermor Deficiency (PFFD) a rare birth defect. In english, and lightly, she has one leg shorter then the other. At the time there was only 1 web site for PFFD (and this was only 8 years ago) Now there are thousands. Before knowing the situation, hubby and I talk about what we were going todo if it was downes. I will not say if we would have terminated or not, that was to be our personal and private choice. Our daughter who was to be behind in crawling, and walking started walking at 9 months! She has shocked everyone, even to this day of all not only how she can keep up with other kids, but how active she is. Nothing slows her down. She has had 2 hip surgeries, and last August had her leg lengthened. Justlast Tuesday, she got the ok,to resume normal running, and such activity. I was in denial during the rest of my pregnancy, not knowing what her leg was going to look like and such, my husband changed her diapers for the first month, I was scared to hurt her. The day she was born, I remember after first seeing her saying "We were all stressed out for that!?" It was ok! Where I stand for aborting a pregnancy, it's a personal choice for what ever reason the woman has. It is not for me to judge, as I was almost faced with the decision. Good luck.

I just added a picture to my profile of our daughter, from cheerlaeding 2 years ago. You can see the lift she wear on her shoe. Because of the lengthening last year she could not do cheer, but can not wait to do it this year!

I would keep the baby. And do as much research on that particular illness as possible so I was prepared when the baby arrived.
