This is a picture af a Fairey Gannet aircraft. It has two propellors at the front and they spin in opposite directions. Do you have any pictures of strange or unusual aircraft.

Okay, I see why they want the counter rotating props in the center of the aircraft. This is to eliminate the problem with torque and having an engine on each wing. But how the heck do they manage it without having ridiculous complications from gearing both props off the shaft of one engine? Do they have 2 engines in line with the drive shaft from one passing through the other? This looks like a strange bird that attempted to solve one problem while creating several others. Sorry, I do not have any pics of strange aircraft for you.

Hi, it is an engineering marvel if you ask me. Your questions are mine also. I'll see what I can find out. Thanks for clearing up that pile of nasty 0's I had in my Mylot too.

The engine is more of a marvel than I imagined. It is a turbo prop. However, it is as I imagined 2 engines in one case. That said, look at the wings in the photo. How did they do that and still have enough strength? Truely, this airplane was a remarkable achievement.
