Pet Lovers - would you do this?

diamond - having your pets ashes made into a diamond

There was a news story in our UK newspapers this morning. A lady has had a diamond made from the ashes of her two dogs, and a cat, and had it made into a ring, so she can wear it all the time, and keep her beloved pets with her always. The ring cost over £3,000 (about $6,500), and was made by a British company. She said "My animals mean the world to me, and even though they are gone, they are still with me. It is a beautiful ring, and such a brilliant idea". She plans to get another one made from the ashes of her four remaining cats when they pass away. I know the cost would be prohibitive to many people, but, if the money was not an issue, what do you think of this? Would you have this done with your pets?

I think that this is a nice idea. It is not just only for pets - human ashes can be made into diamonds as well! Its better than having an urn filled with ashes sitting on your mantlepiece. You wear the diamond to remind you of your loved ones - especially on anniversaries and their birthdays - you can take them everywhere you go. Cemetaries are running out of space - and you may move away from the area where the ashes have been sprinkled (and if yor animal is buried in your garden)- this way, you can take your beloved with you. I wouldnt mind being made into a diamond - it beats being worm food!

Yes - that is true. All my former cats are buried in my garden, and I guess it would be nice to take them wth me wherever I should move to. Thanks for your response.

I saw a story about that a few months a go- a mother and daughter had rings made of the fathers ashes, I think if you can afford it - why not. I plan on getting creamated, it's just a shell not your soul. I would definately have it done from my pets ashes.

It's alright you have the spare cash laying around to do this! And most of us haven't, and if I did, well I'm not sure I would want to, feels a bit weird and bizarre to me, even taxidermy I couldn't do. So a definite no from me on that one. I keep my memories of my pets I have lost in my head and through pictures that is good enough for me and it helps me to remember them.
