The other day I was at a friend's apartment and she has a dog that is a dotson. It was not a big dog, jut one of those little yappy ones. It does not like new people and it is very territorial. So I let the dog snif my hand, then it barked at me and then sniffed it again and barked, then the dog just clamped down on my hand long enough for me to say, "Oh my gosh your dog is biting me!" This dog bit me right after the owner had said the dog does not bite. The skin was broken on my hand and now it is scabbed over. I did not say anything, because I do not want her dog to be put down, but should I take action anyway? What would you do if you were in this situation?

If that dog bit you, then you have rights to make it be put down. If it was your friend's dog and you were warned it would bite, then you shouldn't get it put down. But, seeing that your friend said it won't bite, then it is up to you. I personally wouldn't because I wouldn't want to lose friendship over a dog bite. But, if the bite hurt you as in put a disease inside of you, then yes you should because the owner should have let you know, and should have gotten it the correct shots at the vet. If it does come to that, try to comfort your friend and try to help them through it because it is their dog and a living member of their family.

Ist of all you've got to see a doc and get your shots, hopefully the dog's had his shots. As for what should be done to the dog, it's more the owners fault and your friend should be more responsible, i think you should help her realise thta this is a serious thing. But I'm a dog lover and think that putting the dog down is a bit extreme.
