am i suposed to wash the things i want to recycle?

am i suposed to wash bottles and tins before i recycle.i have been because i thiught you were suposed to but have been told this is unneccesary.i just want to do the right thing.what should i do?

This is a good question though I don't think that it is mandatory to rinse the containers before redeeming them when you recycle. I do rinse anything that has an open lid such as a aluminum can just because I don't want to attract ants and other bugs.

It helps for other reasons as well as you dont want to attract animals to your garbage.

you should rinse but they dont need to be real clean.
