Did you know that beans were very healty? You can make them in chili, soups, rice, pasta. You can eat them cold in salads. You can mash them and cover with cheese. What are some of the ways you make and eat beans.

We use beans to make fudge, cake and the filling in buritos. We also grind them for bean flour that is used to thicken soups and to replace a small amount the flour in breads.Beans are so cheap and they can be used for so many things. I have posted 3 discussions on beans just a few days ago with recipes for fudge, mock pecan pie and other things to use beans with. We love beans and they make our food budget go much farther.

I like adding chick peas to my salads. They are very flavorful and add protein and extra fiber to the salad. I often make bean soup. Beans can be bought for a song. Add some carrots, onion and celery and you have a delicious meal.

I do know that they are very healthy for a person. Even though they are healthy, I do not like any beans very much. I dislike baked beans and lima beans more than any other type of bean. I usually eat beans in a salad or with rice. I like green beans but keep the baked beans and lima beans away from me. LOL

If they are fresh green beans from the garden, I just boil them and put a bit of dob of butter on them. My son love tinned beans in tomato ketchup so I have to keep a supply of these. They come in very handy for a quick snack, like beans on toast. I love the butter beans, the type that has to be soaked overnight.

I use kidney beans in my Taco Salad. I also have a favorite dish that I take to every pot luck and serve at all of our BBQ's yummy Cowboy Beans with big chunks of ham. Beans and rice are also a super source of protien. I love garbanzo beans in any salad.

I did not realize that beans were healthy. I like beans in my chili but I never tried them in anything else. I am trying all different kinds of food lately. I want to actually try something before I say I do not like it.

Of course you know all about using the ham bone and making bean soup. The crockpot is awesome with beans and my family liked it when I took like 3 cans of different beans, loaded in the onion, green peppers, tomatoe paste and whatever herbs I liked that day. You see this is so changeable it is never the same unless you write it down when you do it. Also a side of beans on the plate in the summer with chicken and tomatoes and things from the garden is grand at our house too. Pureed cooked beans is good to add to any salad that is served over the summer and also to bread dough like you would potatoes and they bread becomes more off a part of the meal that an add on.
