How long were you stranded on the highway after your car broke down on you?

Has anyone had any bad experiences on the roadway after their car broke down and waiting for help to arrive? This past summer my car had broken down on a major roadway here in Delaware and since I am a member of AAA I always call them for assistance. The first time I called, they said it would take an hour for them to come help me so I waited and waited and they had not come so I called again and they said it would be another hour due to the holiday weekend and lots of other cars needing help. i waited again for another hour and they had not come again. After 4 hours of waiting they finally came. What would you have done? I tried calling friends and family to come get me but nobody was available at the time so I ended up hanging out at this fish and tackle shop. LOL Anybody else have to wait this long for help to come?

I would say the longest I was stuck on the highway for help was a couple of hours . I had my girls with me and it was so cold and I couldn't get a hold of anyone . When I finally got a hold of my mother in law she didn't have a vechile and had to call her neighbours (who I had never met ) , they called a taxi service to come out and get us and they paid the bill . I have to say that the taxi cab driver was awfully sweet . He knew we were cold and although he wasn't cold he had the heat blaring for us and he tried to figure out how to get the car seat out of the car for me as we had it latched in and I didn't know how to undo it . It took him some time to do this but he did it for me and then offered me the use of his cell phone as he knew I was being charged long distance for mine . It shows that sometimes there really are good people out there that are willing to help others they don't know as I would have been stuck without my mohter in laws' neighbours and the friendly taxi cab driver that went out of there way to help my family . It was a long night for everyone and they were all so good about it .

That was very nice to hear how that taxi cab driver was willing to go above and beyond to help you and your girls. It is nice to know there are good people out there who care and are willing to help people in need. Being stranded in the cold had to be very hard on you and your girls. That was nice of your neighbors to call for help to come get you and your children and also pay for the bill.
