I use Windows XP and it works great. That's weird that yours slows down everyday. It could be spyware related. Have you tried scanning for spyware and viruses? You may want to try reformatting if nothing seems to improve speed or install more RAM.

I have Latest Nortan 2006 Antivirus and Zone Alarm Antispyware. Then also XP installation slows Down after a month or weeks. I have 512 +256 RAM installed. And P4 2.8 Ghz + intel Original Motherboard. I used Linux for a peiod and Linux never slows Down if you use it for a year. But Windows Slows Down.

The statement that grudge made, that Linux does not have much software, that's extremely untrue. You can find a Linux equivelant of almost any Windows program. I dual boot PCLinuxOS & Windows XP.

I disagree, there are certain apps that cannot be found for linux. Games for example are virtually unplayable in Linux, while i accept that Linux is really great and is a good and free alternative to Windows. But the lack of support for hardware and that it really what eggs me, and drivers for certian thngs are extremely hard to find like my wireless adapter, i have been trying to find a driver for it for like forever but it is to no avail. Windows XP does get slower the more you use it because of the increasing amount of system files that builds up as you use the OS. I think that the best thing to do to reduce the amount of slowness that builds up would be to just reformat your computer or clear some files, defragment and do a registry clean-up, I really hope Vista wont show the same problems and holes as Xp has shown but knowing Microsoft they probably threw the product on the shelves before they had completely finished their tests on it......

hi i use windows xp.i find it easier and comfortable.Windows XP is known for its improved stability and efficiency over previous versions of Microsoft Windows. It presents a significantly redesigned graphical user interface, a change Microsoft promoted as more user-friendly than previous versions of Windows. New software management capabilities were introduced to avoid the "DLL hell" that plagued older consumer versions of Windows. It is also the first version of Windows to use product activation to combat software piracy, a restriction that did not sit well with some users and privacy advocates. Windows XP has also been criticized by some users for security vulnerabilities, tight integration of applications such as Internet Explorer and Windows Media Player, and for aspects of its user interface.

I am using XP for the last 2 years and I have not comeacross any problem. The slowness is due to not maintaining the system properly by using disc fragmentation, disk cleaning, deleting undesirale files, removing obsolete files etc. If one goes on loading softwares and exceed the limit of computer space, how it will work? Either one has to enhance the diskspace, RAM and FDD from time to time, depending on the requirement.

I use windows xp, but lately been dinkering around with Windows Vista. It has a great interface and I love some of the options, but it is way to protective. Everything little thing I do I have to approve or deny the action. But its a small step in the right direction.
