This may sound weird to some, but in the Philippines, the infamous 'balut' or boiled chicken egg with the fetus in it is a sidewalk delicacy, along with fried one day old chicks, chicken feet and barbecued chicken and pork intestines, among others. Apart from all that, I've also tasted frog and dog meat (oh, I'm so bad) when I was still a kid.

Dog meat is quite delicious as I remember it. The meat was cooked in vinegar with chopped onions, garlic and ginger. It doesn't have a distinct taste and can be mistaken for pork meat, except that it's much leaner.

I have heard about the infamous "balut". Will you please tell me how does dog meat taste??? Just curious, I really do not believe that I will ever try it myself.

Wow, some of the foods you guys have eaten have been hardcore. lol! I'm Asian, so I grew up eating lots of "weird" stuff ("weird" to typical western cuisines, that is): chicken feet, cow's stomach, pig's stomach, organ meats, frogs legs, sea cucumbers, cuttlefish, conch...a lot of other stuff I can't remember!

They don't really taste like much. All you remember when you eat it is that it's slimy!

Nothing as adventurous as rattlesnake or some of the other 'foods' that has already been mentioned, the only weird food I've eaten is squid and that tasted foul, rubbery and totally tasteless, I'm not one for experimenting with food and will only eat foods that I am familiar with.

I've tried snails in garlic butter, and they were very yummy! A bit like those big mushrooms taste (and similar in texture) just a bit meatier. I definitely recommend trying snails if you get the chance!

I love mushrooms. I'll just close my eyes, chew and swallow.

LOL - they do come in the snail shells generally, but they don't actually look like snails once they're cooked. They do actually look more like a piece of mushroom, so not really that unappetising to look at! Happy epicurean adventuring :-)

I have tried fried alligator here in Florida but I do not like the taste, way to strong tasting. I have tried frog legs but yuk! I'll stick to turkey, pork, beef, chicken. LOL
