I am about to paint my interior walls....again. Does anyone have any tips to make the job easier and professional looking? It is so hard for me to paint around the top of the wall, I get paint on the ceiling everytime. I have a stairwell to paint too, I have new carpet down and I don't want to make a mess, but the stair well has some really out of reach heights for me to get it neatly done around the ceiling area. Please any tips would be greatly appreciated.

They sell at the paint stores a square pad with wheels that is designed to paint at the top of the wall and at the base so that you get a nice clean straight edge. It really helps with that. You just put the wheels on the ceiling and then push it across the wall. Nice and smooth. For the stairs, you might need to get a ladder or an extenions of some sort. Not sure on that one. Depends on how high you are talking and how wide the stairs are.

Thank you for responding to my post. I have tried the flat edger with wheels, but is there a trick to doing this? I seem to always have the paint get on the ceiling anyway. and it doesn't hold much paint, when I painted the stairwell last time, I used an extension pole, but it was sort of sloppy b/c I couldn't get it around the ceiling area very neat. My stepsister said she uses a brush around the edges, she says she frames it in first, I am going with a much darker color and I want it to look neat. Do you prefer a brush or the wheeled edger?
