philippines culture : before engagement groom and his family will go to girl house and groom and his father ask the girl family for their consent - and if the girls party agreed - both party will talk about the wedding details and expenses - {whilst having meal that girl prepared and some brought by the groom } technically groom and his family pays for all the expenses like wedding dress , invitation cards and honeymoon actually everything - if the groom manage to get all those - that shows that he is able to take care of his princess finanacially and emotionally. some good thing will happen during wedding celebration - guest and participants will give a gift , money , etc etc. share your country tradition and culture ? thank you

in bengali culture actual wedding takes place in bride's house so her family pays for the expenses.groom comes with his friends & relatives and enjoies. after thet(after two days)the bride & grooms 1st time sleeps togather(called phul sajjya).in this occasion grooms gives a party on his expence.

in our culture wedding expenses are shared by both groom's as well as bride's family....but major part of the sharing comes from bride's side.

You're a filipina too? I'm proud of our culture but here in modern days, other families find it unfair to have the groom shoulder all the expenses so the bride would share a part of her money to the groom for their wedding. I wonder, what are the customs in the other countries?
