Elections..What do we expect here in the Philippines (or in other country)

I have always tried to be very careful about whom I vote for, and so far I have had no regrets. This time around, I will once again exercise judicious caution in my selection — to elect someone who will lead our country out of this quagmire of myriad problems that make us the sick man of the Philippines. I want to elect a leader who will protect specific national interests like education, peace and order, senior-citizen and youth welfare, the economy, and health services, and prioritize these in accordance with the circumstances that prevail. All candidates will understandably be wooing the citizenry's vote. So far, candidates for national posts are conducting spirited but very professional campaigns. When the campaign period begins for the local elections, however, I expect things to get dirtier. Of course I will vote because I want my candidate to win, whoever he or she may be. Like any other voter, I fantasize that my candidate would win by a tremendous landslide. But reality often comes too soon, when the initial canvassing returns are published in the papers. Yet, in the last two decades, I have had no reason to despair because I always did what a responsible Filipino should do: I accepted being king for a day and participated in the shaping of my country's future.

expect MISCHIEVOUS ACTIONS from comelec. we all know comelec is a pro-administration. do you still remember the 2004 presidential election which automated voting was axed but had purchased some machines which were not used in the elecion? we were made to believe that the election be successful & the ballots were fast to count & declare the winner in a days time. but lo! it was all a LIE. just recently someone from business world offered a free use of automated voting system. but abalos declined & said 3 months is not enough to push through with the automated voting system. sen. gordon made reaction why it's not? just implement the automation in few areas. let's see if it's the BEST for everbody. but abalos did not give in to sen. gordon's request. sen. gordon got furious & told him to resign. honestly, abalos is NOT EFFICIENT as a commissioner of comelec.

That is very idealistic in my opinion but I guess we all dreamed that someday there will come an election that is not tainted with cheating and violence. I do hope that there will come a time that declared winners are not tagged as cheaters and the losers the victims of cheating. This is so prevalent in our countries where winners are cheaters and losers cheated. I just wish all of this things to stop and our politicians mature enough to accept defeat and allow our government be ruled by those chosen by us the citizens.
