I have a pair of bunnies and I heard that I could potty train them. Anybody here have tips on how to do this? Currently they are on a cage and all Ive noticed with mine is that they are very clean animals. They only poo at a left side on the cage and when they pee, they make sure it's outside.LOL. We're planning to make them live inside with us but we're afraid they'd poo all over the place.

First tip: spay or neuter them. This will make it way easier to litterbox train them. Then put a litterbox on whatever side of the cage they use. If they continue to do their business there, keep the litterbox in that spot. If not, move it until they stick with it. Then remove all the other bedding from the cage or pen so that they'll only use the litterbox. Putting their hay (or at least some of it) in the litterbox will help because they'll sit in there and eat and poop. My 10 year old rabbit came to me as a 4 year old and he was an outdoor bunny before I got him. He was completely litterbox trained in 2 weeks. Only now that he's 10 do I have to confine him to a pen so that the whole house wouldn't constantly need cleaning. I'd recommend a puppy pen over linoleum set up indoors. Very easy to clean if there is an accident.

Thank you for your response! I was having doubts with starting to potty train them since they're already 1 year old. Im not sure if they will be able to learn it quick. But I'll try to do your advice. I hope it works :)

Our bunny is in a cage, but I know they are very easy to litter box train. We had a friend who had one and she had it inside her trailer. She just put the litter box out and the rabbit started using it just like a cat. I don't think she ever had a problem with it going in the house. I think the sooner you start, the better.

We raise and show rabbits. They can be potty trained. Just get you some cat litter and place it in a box or whatever you want them to use. When they go on the floor just place them in the cat litter box. It may take some time but they will learn to go in the box.

I wouldn't use cat litter because some rabbits will eat it, and it doesn't digest. Unless by cat litter you are referring to one of the newer paper cat litters, such as Yesterday's News.
