We often spend more than what we planned for each month. As the result, we get into debts. The reason I started this discussions is to get ideas and suggestions from members on ways they think or have gone through to cut unnecessary spendings. For example, my wife taught me these : a. Use sms when it is not an emergency phonecall. b. Use emails whenever possible to avoid letters and phonecalls. There are many others and I'd like to find out what ways you have to curb unnecessary spendings. In this way, we will all benefit and become more effective to be debt free without making more mistakes.

We all always tempt to spend more than how much actually we should or we can. But still I try to save some money or reduce spending in not really necessary thing. If you decide to buy something always think twice if that very much necessary for you. When shopping for grocery you can buy more amount of those stuff what does not spoil in long time like can thing or dry stuff like sugar, flour etc. But never buy things what you are not going to use because it is on sale. You can always buy cloths in off season. In winter you will get summer cloth in huge sale and for winter cloth its vice versa.

Good comments. Buying off season is probably one of the best way of saving on spendings. Buying items which are necessary and have longer shelf life also helps indefinetely. I am celebrating the Chinese New Year now at my in-laws home. The normal trend is to splash money everywhere and spend. However, this year, other than staying 3 days in a budget hotel to get a good rest, our family decided to cook mostly at home. As the results, I am able to save much more.

I have a good suggestion... don't try to make money online through all kinds of programs you have to pay for . lol. Seriously now, I think you can cut down in various ways without living less comfortable. E.g. when I am working upstairs, I hardly have lights on downstairs. My husband hates this, he leaves the lights on everywhere... so I am the light police! Same for heating. When leaving the house for more than a few hours, turn down the heating, or AC, down a little. Not too much, otherwise the heating takes to much to heat up again... (I'm the heating police as well) Buy stuff you alway use/eat in greater amounts when it is on a GOOD sale. Don't buy stuff in a sale you never use/eat, why would you? It is tempting sometimes, but still, walk on by... Don't buy too much/many of anything, in order not to have leftovers, be it food or things. Know why you buy it, then you always know how much/many you need. Don't throw away things to fast. They may come in useful, and if not, you can always throw them away four months later...;-)Four days where it is concerning food... My husband jokingly calls me a squirrel, since I always save up for a rainy day. But every time I pop up with something he needs and didn't know we still had it, I make my point!

One thing that I have learned about making purchases that just take us deeper into debt is to wait at least 24 hours before making a descision about a big purchase.
