WOW, it sounds like you have a pretty bad and dangerous situation in your house. Being that some of the spiders you mention are some of the most poisonous spiders known to man. If I were you, I would probably get an exterminator to rid yourself of those pests and then use the spider traps to control them. Spider traps have worked for me in the past and they don't spread chemicals all over like the spray poisons.

we rent and the landlord doesn't care....and won't spend the money for an exterminator or tenting.I call this place the house of my screams...I was bit by a black widow on my hand and that was 4 months ago,,,it still hurts but has healed on the outside.I'm at my wits end.

I would surely try going back to the landlord and demanding that they do something about the infestation. It is their resposibility to ensure a safe and habitable unit for their tennants and from what it sounds, they are providing neither. I'm sure that there is a lawyer that would agree.

You must be in Oz right? I get freaked out by our harmless house spiders there's no way I could go to Australia purely because of the creepy-crawlies! I use a glass and a piece of card to trap spiders - I don't suppose that's a very sensible suggestion if you're dealing with a black widow! You have my sympathy.

I might use the glass & cardboard but only if they were on a ten foot pole...these suckers a huge! and they can jump...eek!
