recent newspaper articles I read say that Iran is going to be invaded by the US and I also learnt that an aircraft carrier was dispatched to the region, is this true? If so will this turn out to be another Iraq for the Us?

Unfortunately yes, this news is really true! If US attacks Iran it would be another IRAQ. May God save the people of Iran from this forthcoming disaster.

I don't think that the US goverment will dare to invade or even attack iran. The consequences would be catastrophical. Islamic terrorism worldwide would get even more intense and the cost of such a war for the usa army would be surely way way higher than iraq's...and lets remember that they've lost more than 3100 soldiers there. I don't think that will happen anytime soon, but with bush one never knows...

The answer to that question is both yes and no. Iran’s President, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, understands that the world is still suffering oil shock from the recent natural disasters, in addition to the fact that the majority of the US Army and Marines are stabilizing Iraq. This entire plot to stare down the world is merely a tactic of “shock and awe”. The bottom line is no other Middle Eastern country other than Syria has shown support for their actions. Also, no European or North American countries are supportive of their actions. If embargos were enacted and Iran began withholding its oil, the world would not come to an end. Sure prices would rise, but often the will of the people is stronger than any economy or dictator. If all trade was ceased between the majority of the world and Iran, the economic repercussions for Iran would be disastrous. As it is, the government is terribly unstable, faces daily democracy marches, and only gains support through Islamic extremism and terror. Finally, if war were to break out, Iran is positioned right between two US allies, Afghanistan and Iraq. This would provide ample staging areas for any type of offensive. Also, as demonstrated during the first gulf war and to some extent during the second, the American and European militaries are designed for short term hit and run tactics which allows modern technology to be used most efficiently. If Iran was to stop selling its oil, it would hurt many countries that might have had a neutral stance at the beginning. With this being true, any military action could easily see the most global coalition that modern warfare has ever seen.

i heard there's 3 aircraft carriers out there. bush says those carriers are there to keep the waterway open and the oil tankers moving. bush says we aren't going to war with iran. we are stretched far too thin, and going to war with iran is far too risky for us strategicly in our current millitary condition.
