Candy canes existed for a long time before people started to put a religous twist on them. They can be traced back to 1670 in Germany when a man came up with the idea of making a candy stick for the kids to enjoy between singing songs in church. The red and white striped ones that exist today weren't added until the turn of the century.

The answers are on the image you posted here, right? White is for purity. And red is for the blood of Jesus. He comes to earth to save people, but he asks for not ask for nothing in return. He sacrifices himself on the cross, and his blood has the meaning of love to the people he is trying to save.

red represents the blood of Jesus that was shed on the cross to take away our sins. The white represents purity
