Die in Disease or Die in an Accident?

This is a kind of morbid topic but I think it could spark up a veritable discussion among us. Given a choice, would you want to die due to a disease or die due to an accident? For me, I would rather choose to die in an accident rather than die in disease. I think having a disease is too much pain for you and your family as well. One of the greatest fear I have is to die out of disease. Especially those diseases that you would have to endure a slow death, while you see your loved ones crying. How about you?

yes true we could end up in a coma but i don't think it would last as long as a disease, i know a few people who ive seen dying from diseases and it's not a very nice experience that's why i chose the accident one!

I really dont want either...I would rather just die in my sleep. But if I had to choose then I would choose the disease. This way I know that I am going to die and then I can plan for it. I do not want to die in an accident becuase I am always with my children and I do not want them to get hurt physically. At least If I die from the diease everyone can plan for it and it is not so sudden....

I cannot choose! My parents and two brothers were killed in a car accident in 1967. Sometimes it is as unreal now as it was back then. I have witnessed others of my loved ones linger in pain from disease. And I have witnessed (just this past year) two of my friends die in their sleep. Each of these situations cause their own emotional pain. There is no easy way. . . So, I will let the Lord choose for me the "best" way to die. All I know is that I am very glad I k-n-o-w I'm going to be with the Lord when I die!

I too will choose die in an accident only. As you said die out of disease is so painfull for us as well as our family members. But I think die in an accident will be more shocking to our family members. But any way if some acident happends I prefer to die rather than being its living victim.

I really don't know which I would pick. The diseases are pretty scary now a days and I lost relatives due to accidents. That would be a hard choice to make.

Accident would be my choice. But not just any accident. It should be something grand, historic, or something that people will remember for a long time.

Bad bad topic lol. I guess it depends. What kind of disease? Something like Lou Gehrig's would be awful. But, if it's a drawn out disease, you will have time to get your affairs in order, actually spend time and cherish it with your family/loved ones-since most of us don't do that, say your goodbyes to your family/loved ones, etc. But, it would suck to have a drawn out debilitating illness, as well as stressful for your family, and rather expensive. But, the flip side, it would be nice to go quick I suppose and not have to suffer. Guess I'll just take whatever's handed to me :) Like I have a choice in the matter lol...

Yeah, you're right. I'd rather die because of an accident than because of a disease. the only disadvantage is that if you die in an accident, you will die so fast and sudden that you won't have enough time to bid farewell to those you love while it's not the case for the other side. The only advantage is that you will die with less pain and suffering which I hate the most! People have different opinions...I don't mind if I don't get what I choose. What matters most is that I have lived long enough to tell everyone how much they mean to me and how much I love them...^^

Whichever choice is less painful, which would most likely always be the accident. I am a real coward and a scaredy cat when it comes to feeling pain, so either way I would definitely want to take the least agonizing route out of this world, if I had to choose. Also, although I agree that a long suffering illness can be a lot of pain on the family, as well, my other thought on that issue is that at least it sometimes gives the family some closure, time to say their I love you's, etc, before the person passes on. That can actually be more comforting than just losing someone suddenly. But yes, it can also be awful having to watch someone that you love slowly dying.. so it's hard to say which is worse on the rest of the family. I guess that it depends on a lot of factors. But I still think that I would choose the accident route, for myself, if I absolutely had to pick one.

wow.. what a question.. i really don't know how to answer it.. my first instinct would be to say by accident because I'm not sure I could handle a long painful suffering period but I lost my mom when I was 10 in a sudden accident and it leaves alot of things unresolved and really messed me up for a bit. I'd hate to think of doing that to my children.. although I'd hate for them to have to watch me suffer with an illness either.. can I vote to just live forever ;) ?

Yes, I absolutely agree with you. I would also prefer to die in an accident. As you mention that die in accident is much quicker than die in disease provided that accident must be deadly. Because If this not happen then there is similar situation like disease.

i would rather die in disease. even though it would be slow and painful, at least i would have time to tell my family and friends how much i love them. there will be no surprises. dying in an accident leaves to many things hanging. there would be many what ifs. it would be easier for me to die that die but it would be too painful for my loved ones thinking if they could have done something to prevent the unfortunate event.

same here...i'd rather die in an accident..or i would prefer sleeping without waking up. for all my life, i have always shown my love to my family and loved ones. i always tell them that i love them so much, so, if ever i'll die tomorrow...they know that i love them so.

I would prefer to die in an accident because the disease process is too long and painful. I would not want to subject my family, friends, and care providers to watching me wither away.
