women in mix martial arts sports / full contact fighting

i've been to another site i always go to. the mix martial arts forum and found out that a lot of people oppose having women competing in mix martial arts. why is it so? was it because they're women? last night i watched the first in history that 2 women compete in mix martial arts fighting and honestly i was impressed. both women gave their all and it was totally a good fight. and believe me, they performance we're better than some of the male fighters i've seen. i just don't know why some people can't won't recognize. if we want to consider cage fighting a sport why would we deprive women who want to compete to join this sport?
