Hello! We have recently moved to a house on the ocean and all my children keep getting splinters from the darn deck. I keep reminding them to wear shoes, but they won't...atleast not everytime. And my one son had about 6 splinters in the same spot!!! I think I've gotten most of them out, but I'm not sure becuz it still kind of looks like there is something in there. It was HORRIBLE trying to get them out though!! Are there any tricks to it? Is there any way to get them out without having to peel all the skin off the top? It kills me to 'dig' at them like that, and I know it hurts terribly! Any suggestions~ besides telling me to make sure they have shoes on ;-) ~ would be greatly appreciated! Thank you and have a wonderful day! ~Stephanie

there's not much you can do. if you soak the feet before then the skin is softer and it won't hurt so much. also, if you miss a few bits it's not so bad as i believe the wood, being natural, will eventually biodegrate; not like getting lead under the skin. good luck

glue - put it over the top and it sometimes pulls a small splinter out when you peel it off, let it dry first. The sticky part of the plaster sometimes does this too, good luck, poor kids can you have the decking treated with something or sanded?

Oh man what a pain! Maybe you could put one of those outdoor carpets over it? I dont know so much about wood, but is it old? I am thinking that you cant treat it after its already older.

I have heard that peroxide will draw them out at least part of the way so they are easier to grab... You may try it it doesn't hurt.
