I am a self-confessed coffee addict and have been drinking it for more than ten years. I really could not function well with work if i don't drink coffee first thing in the morning. Then i got pregnant with my second child and everyone advised me not to drink coffee as it will cause harm to the baby, i attended a seminar and the doctr said it is just ok to drink coffee at least 2 cups a day in minimum. In my first trimester and second trimester i have avoided coffee and i have also searched the internet the truth about it with my condition. Now i want to drink coffee and i am almost due..this coming end of february or early march. Can someone give me advise or clear facts about harming the baby with coffee and so goes with drinking COKE. HELP PLEASE.

i myself am a coffee addict for years now, but since getting pregnant 5 months ago, i was restricted to drink coffee, coke, tea and chocolates by my husband even though we had the same advice from my doctor that we can have at least 2 cups a day. but sometimes i do get allowed to drink at least a cup for a week to satisfy my thirst for coffee lol

I am not really sure about this coffee in pregnant women thing. But one time when I was having my lunch as an intern I heard my boss told us that coffee is bad for pregnant women. I didn't bother to ask him about it since I am not interested, nor pregnant nor drink coffee. However as for you, the doctor told you that it's ok as long as you will limit the caffeine in take. I think you should listen to your doctor after all they know what's best.

I think drinking too much of anything with caffeine in it is not good when you are pregnant. If you only drink one cup of coffee a day, I do not think it would harm the baby. I am a tea drinker and I drank one cup of tea every morning when I was pregnant and my doctor said that was ok. It's just if you overdo it, then it is bad.

Pregnant women should drink no more than four cups of coffee daily. Those exceeding the limit will have low weight babies or even miscarraige.

I am a coffeeholic also myself. When I got pregnant, I asked the same question to my OB, and she said that its alright to drink coffee but in moderation. Like instead of drinking everyday, when your pregnant, you must only drink two to three times a week and with a small amount of coffee only, I mean small pinch of coffee, not a teasepoon of coffee. With coke or any other softdrinks, its also alright to have some but also in moderation. But if you have cases of diabetes or any other ailments which can effect if you drink softdrinks, you must refrain from drinking them. Perhaps, you should instead learn to drink fresh fruit juice or more water. If you're having difficulties in doing this, just try to think of the welfare of your baby inside you.

My doctor told me when I was pregant that I should not drink coffee because it has cafeine. I think a little sacrifice can help your baby to be born well and healthy.
