How to get good Sleep

In my youth, sleep was something I took for granted. Just jump into bed, and within a short time, I would be in dream land. Not so anymore. Many nights I struggle to sleep. The hours tick away and I worry about how horrible the next working day is going to be having not slept the previous night. This has prompted me to do some reading up on the subject. I know that for different people the underlying issues behind bad sleep are different. However, some general tips for good sleep I would share are 1. Start unwinding about half an hour or so before going to sleep. Do something relaxing and mundane like maybe ironing your clothes, or reading very light material. 2. Drink a glass of warm milk. 3. Have a warm shower around half hour to one hour before bedtime 4. Try to keep to the same bedtime more or less. 5. If you find yourself unable to sleep, do not stay in bed worrying but rather get out of the bedroom and do some light activity and come back when you are sleepy. 6. Look at practising meditation for some time every day 7. Get some exercise every day...and a stroll in the park does not count. Get some serious cardio of 30 mins and at least 2-3 hours before bedtime. 8. If nothing else works, i think popping a sleeping pill is better than the negative effects of not getting sleep for many nights at a stretch Whats your take on this , people ??
