I already have a digital camera. But my dad wanted to buy a professional camera for our family trip in Baguio i two weeks. I told him to buy Canon 400D coz I read a lot of good reviews. Do you think Canon 400D is a best buy? Is it difficult to shift from a point and shoot camera to a DSLR Camera? Need your thoughts about this.

The cool thing about the 400D (REBEL XTi) is that it's light and small so the switch won't be such a weight issue. It's really a Pro-consumer camera and a good start for someone new to DSLR photography. Most likely you'll get it with the 18-55mm lens. This is a good starter lens but as time goes by and you become more familiar with DSLRs you'll want to get other lenses for your 400D. That's the great thing about SLRs you can buy lot's of different lenses to suit your needs and shooting style. It gets you more creative and allows you to express your own style. Congrates on the switch to the Rebel Xti (400D) you won't regret it. It's a great camera at a great price with great features. Remember on thing... it's not the camera, it's the eye behind it.

The switch shouldn't be too difficult. Yes, there are a lot more controls, but with the camera being auto focus and having so many programed settings, it can be an easy switch. The good thing is that as you learn the camera, you'll find you can do so much more. The advantages of a DSLR far out weight any difficulties in the switch. Most likely the biggest problem anyone would have in the switch would be the size and weight of the DSLR. They are bulkier and heavier.

I'm pretty much aware about having a much bulkier and heavier camera unlike point and shoot cams. Thanks for the information you gave me. I'll take note of that.
