I think Kapil Dev is the best all rounder, India has ever produced. He was a very good bowler, and a very useful middle order batsman. He was a good fielder too. What do you think about it?

If you look at the all rounders who played for India, there are some names which come to my mind. 1. Kapil Dev 2. Mohinder Amarnath 3. Ravi Shastri 4. Manoj Prabhakar But no doubt that Kapil Dev is the best all-rounder India had.

Kapil Dev no doubt has been the only true all rounder in the indian team ever rest have all been fakes or just not good enough. Another name that comes to mind is Manoj Prabhakar who was opener batsman+bowler but he stands nowhere near kapil

Kapil Dev was great... but i feel Irfan has a potential to be a great allrounder, but he needs to concentrate on his bowling...

Hi, I completely agree with you with one correction. Kapil is the only GENUINE allrounder india has ever produced. I see some people trying to elevate pathan to his level, but once that chap started batting well, he forgot his bowling and became very predictable, loosing his pace also. On top of being the best allrounder, don't forget, kapil assumed captaincy role as well and had won the only world cup for India so far. The notable point is, he led by example in that world cup. His blazing 175 not out is supposed to be the alltime best one day knock as it was done under pressure after india was reduced to 17 runs for the loss of 5 wickets against minnows zimbabwe. The catch he took to send back viv richards was breathtaking even by today's fielding standards. It's a pity that a single video recording of that 175 is not available. Above all his fitness level is something which players of today have to beg to achieve. But for that one match ban imposed for non cricketing reasons on him, he would have become the only cricketer in history to have played throughout his career without a single break. I have one sincere request for other guys in this forum. Don't suggest other names as best indian allrounders and insult kapil, a cricketing genius and a tireless workhorse. Please. Thanks.
