The handmaid's tale is based on the following scenario:
At a time when all means of payments are electronic, a quiet "coup d'etat" takes place by which teh new ruler stop all women to access their money and thus returns them into a state of complete dependency to men.
In view of the current centralisation and informatisation of most means of payment, how long do you think it will be before someone will decide to hijack the money of a defined segment of the population deemed unfit for whatever reason?
