Why do we call someone who does things differently a “maverick”?

YOU really have a quite a hunger for information, never really thought why,how,who but the questions you are asking are really making me think and i also want to why is it so? Keep the great work going? i also have a question why is this called "Hat trick" when a bowler in cricket takes 3 wickets on three balls? i know the answer if you know plz tell otherwise i will tell for sure

Maverick, usually referring to semi-wild, unbranded cattle in the Western United States. The term is also applied (less commonly) to other unbranded range animals such as horses; for an example, see the Dallas Mavericks logo Maybe it's this?
