How Do You Deal With Uninvited Guests?

There is a friend of mine who 'drops in" almost every day for coffee and small talk. I don't want to be rude to this person nor hurt their feelings, but it is getting on my nerves. I am a writer for a newspaper and I work from my home. I often have to rush to meet a deadline, and when this person drops in it unexpectedly, it is distracting. What should I do?

I agree with the others, I always try to treat others like I would have liked to be treated. And I would have liked a friend to tell me if I was uninvited but in a nice way, you know jokingly.
