Well, it sounds as if you will be in southern California. But if you can get northern some, I would suggest going to the Boardwalk in Sana Monica. You have a mixture of beach, fair and rides.
I really enjoyed it because when we were done playing games, walking and eating, we were able to walk the beach and sit in the sand.

That's a good place to spend some time, I like Venice Beach better though, mainly because there are all kinds of "hippies" performing with thier weird talents!

We are definately going to Venice Beach - that's one of the places I know that I want to go for sure.

Venice Beach was CRAZY! I did find an all vegan fast food stand thought that was pretty good.
Also loved Santa Monica beach. It was really nice there. I didn't ride any of the rides, but the beach was lovely.
Malibu beach was kinda cool too.

Western valley and clownfish gave you wonderful ideas. I agree with them, and you should listen. I hope you have an enjoyable time. If you are driving, beware, the freeways are a nightmare, especially in rush hour. They drive way to fast and bumper to bumper. Plan ahead and work your way from one area to the next. Have fun, California is great. I grew up there.

Oh yeah! 8 lane freeways each side... and you have to take 5 different freeways to get anywhere. We were all over the place. It was fun though. We were staying in Monrovia/Arcadia. Went to Pasadena, Malibu, Hollywood, Beverly Hills, Santa Monica, Venice Beach, Labrea... We had a lot of fun.

Wow!! This sounds like a lot of Fun!! Wishing you the Best for sure!! If I were you, I would want to see places like Hollywoose, etc. But it depends on what type of things you want to see. I would Love to see LA area actually myself someday if I can. All I have ever seen of LA is LAX.

Hi! I'll tell you what I enjoyed when I was there. Universal Studios is really cool. Based on how crowded Disneyland was, I'd pass on that and go to Knott's Berry Farm or Six Flags instead. Definitely head out to the Pacific Coast Highway and either drive for a while or just visit the beach. It's beautiful out there! Oh, and the LaBrea Tar Pits is really cool, too. It's kind of creepy, but really fun to see. :-)

I did go to the Labrea Tar Pits. It's cool... but the creepy part is the mammoth statues they have... and the sign describing that it's a demonstration of a mom mammoth dying in the tar pits while the dad mammoth and baby mammoths look on helplessly. That kind of messed with my head a little bit.

I went by Disneyland... but it was a short trip so I didn't go to either. My fiance grew up right down the street from Disneyland. We went by all his old haunts. They had a cool park near his old school that looked like you were on the moon.

I'm not really sure on where to start... I've lived here for a couple years now and still haven't seen everything that I wanted to! There are all kinds of events, shows, festivals, etc. You should think of something that you both enjoy and look it up, because I can gaurantee there is something that will pop up. If you tell me a couple of your interests I could tell you something good to do!

Southern Cali is very beautiful and fun...and there are many many things to do there. However, before I make suggestions, I would like to tell you the things I love most. I was born and raised in the northern valley, so, I recommend San Fransisco, it is a must see. And, there are just too many things to do there, you would have the busiest day, and still not see everything. You can also take the ferry to Alcatraz, hopefully, depending on the weather. And even far more north, is city after city. If you ever get to Napa, there are B&B's you can stay at that are great (I have yet to go, but my friends really liked it there). Now, south, of course, there is my fav. Disneyland, Rodeo Dr., Beverly Hills, etc. San Diego is great, I hope to go to the San Diego Zoo, (my sister and her hubby went, me and mine are planning to go soon). Also, The Boardwalk. You are going to love the shopping to be had there...there are stores (world stores), that you cannot find anywhere else, only in the Capitals of the World...such as L.A., N.Y.C., Paris, London, etc...There is so many things to do, and I wish I could just provide a list, but all I can tell you is to check out as many cities as you can...you will get help though, from the hotels that you stay in, like at the Hilton they have itineraries for activities, etc.
