Come to the Dark side - enabling others to lush...

Most recently I enabled some folks at a BPAL meet'n sniff with some of the lush perfumes. Other products that seem to be good enablers: Coalface, Ocean Salt, MoM, Solid Shampoo bars (my female co-workers LOVE these for the ease of travel), the much beloved but discontinued Freeze. What products have you used to enable others?

I tried to enable my sister with Ocean Salt, and she liked it...but she's not a lushie by any stretch (she didn't inherit the "shopaholic gene" like I did :o). I enabled two friends from college, though. One was in London with me when I discovered Lush, and the other one I enabled after we both graduated.

That seems to be my thing. Everyone I give stuff to really loves the products, but for some reason none of them turn into addicts like I did. I don't get it. I do have one friend that I'm getting completely hooked, although she doesn't like spending money, so it's a small addiction. I have another friend who was already into lushie, but I am turning her into a true lushie. Bwahahaha ;)

Oh ladymagpie, good point. I have only enabled one person into a HARDCORE lushie. In fact, she gave her bridesmaids "little jewel" gifts for her wedding. The others I have only somewhat enabled- they like LUSH but don't go out of their way to order it or go to the store. They're more passive lushies.

I've enabled a lot of people with the solid shampoo bars, and the bubble bars. Also, when I was working there over xmas one year, I had a piece of HIWTK in my purse when I went out to a pub with friends, so I used it to wash my hands in the bathroom (I don't always carry my own soap around with me, just had a sample that day). Well, I ended up enabling several complete strangers, who were just so tempted they had to ask where I got my delicious honey smelling soap from! They came into the shop the next day to buy some!

That's funny! Of course, now I'm thinking what a cool idea it is to carry around my own soap. I am such a geek, lol.

LOL, I thought it was quite funny. I proudly pulled my own soap out of my purse, didn't have to use the nasty bar bathroom stuff!

Usually bath bombs and shower gels, as they're the easiest and most "normal". I worry with skincare because I don't want to buy them something that's wrong for their skintype. My mom, I got her hooked with some buttercream, but that's because she makes her own shower gel and would be more intrigued by something a little different.

I've used the massage bars and the bath bombs to get people hooked. I usually have to be careful about the bath bombs though because I don't want people to be turned off by the ring around the tub. Also, bubble bars are a great one too. A fresh Pop in the Bath and for a lot of people there is no turning back.

I got my dad hooked on Happy Hippy, Ice Blue soap, and Razorantium. I bought my sister Lemony Flutter but she just didn't seem to appreciate it. Back in 1998, for a Secret Santa gift I bought a co-worker (a girl) a bottle of Ibiza Party Shampoo, some pineapple grunt soap and a couple of bath bombs. I thought that was a really nice gift since you could only get the stuff through mailorder in Canada at the time. When she opened her gift she couldn't have been less enthused. She actually said "What the hell is Lush?". That stopped my enabling for a long time. (The funny thing was a week later she was asking me to bring in my catalog so she could order more shampoo..)

I've so far managed to enable my mum to use Lush bubble bars, as she loves her bubble baths, but other than that she doesn't use much else from Lush other than the occassional Happy Pill ballistic. I've enabled my partner to like Wiccy and Blue Skies, but since he know i have these products in anyway he just pinches mine, rather than buys his own, so i'm not sure if you could count that as enabling?

My fiance found my Snow Fairy in the Shower and was using it all up. I bought him a bottle. And then I bought him Coal Face and Hybrid. He loves them. I had also given him Ambrosia but now he prefers Razorantium. He loves Wiccy Magick, creamy Candy BBS, and Karma Komba. I took my brother to Lush Orlando Mall so he could get some stuff for his girlfriend - during the free for all. I picked out creamy candies (melts and BBS), think pinks, I should Coco, Mange Too, and about $85 worth of other stuff... he picked out ROmance in the stone and a bunch of the lip balms. He got two small Xmas wrapped gifts in the free for all. She is a total addict now.

Funny story ... I now have my boyfriend enabling others. He took a coworker to Lush to buy something for his girlfriend. They got their hands done... and my fiance and his friend both ended up buying the Lemony Flutter and Ocean Salt. His friend bought $150 worth of Lush (some for him and some for his girlfriend) and my fiance spent $100 (most of it for himself). Since that day he has gone back to Lush to get another King of Skin because the first one he bought was running low... and also to get some Cosmetic Lab. He is going again before he comes home on the 16th.

I let my mother smell Karma and she fell straight for it. I also gave an Amandopondo to a friend of mine and she adored it.

My enabling products have been any of the bath bombs and the massage bars. I gave some massage bars to my dad for his very dry skin. Result- enabled. I gave out Jingle Spells ballistics one year to my friends. Result- 2 enabled. I gave my sister and her husband a bath tube of ballistics (and a sample of the pink shampoo truckle - i can't remember if it was "Hard" or "Soft.") Result - enabled. I think the ballistics are unique, easy to use, and not as personal as the facial care. The next step from the ballistics and bubble bars was the haircare line.

For my little sister I used Fresh Farmacy, she has always had really teenage skin and to her surprise and mine, it cleared it up in little under a month. For my Mum, Snow Fairy made her try a lot of the girlie pink things from Lush. Most of my friends are converted through bath bombs and massage bars! I myself was converted by my friend Phae, and I bought Tea Tree Toner and a Godiva. Never looked back.
