Well a very notifying issue was selection of Indian team for world Cup. It was really difficult for the selectors to take decision. But Gautam Gambhir who looked very determined and had the just right attitude of taking responsibility of the match which was quite apperant in most of the matches India played against Westindies. Not selected for World cup but still a very good luck to the boy for future ahead and hope to lead the team in next world cup

we should ask this question to our selection board of india. they are already confused about the selection. so politics in this section so so many good players will be ignored. so let it happen and see what selected players do. we cant do much about that. :(

Yes it is a key issue along with the issue of Virender Sehwag. I think gambhir could have been selected rather than sehwag. The main reason could be that sehwag is a part time bowler whereas gambhir is not :)

I feel gambhir lost out to Utthappa who made strokeful 70 against westindies. As utthappa looked in total command in that match. I agree gambhir should have been given more chances to prove himself but so is true for kaif, pawar, laxman too. gambhir should have played a big knock that would have guaranteed his place beyong doubt. But he is talented and will surely do well in future for India. Moreover there are many openers in indian side like ganguly, sehwag, sachin.

i think it was the right thing to do.. He 's basically a test player and even if he have performed well in some odi but still he can't be expected to be in WC squad when there are better options available.

I think that preferring Gambhir over Uthappa is a bit unfortunate, because Gambhir has good experience when compared with the latter. Also, Uthappa has been considered for performing better in only one LOI & that too in a good batting track, at home. If he has to be selected, then the selectors must have picked him for the SA tour (atleast in the test squad, after Gambhir's failures in the ODI's in SA). Have Uthappa proved himself in just one ODI? If this is true, then people like Gambhir, Kaif deserves a place in the squad, irrespective of their forms. Can Uthappa tackle pressure, like the one which our team faced in our last encounter with Aussies in 2003 final?

Yes but Shewag could have bee rplaced by ganbhir. shewag as if now not performing well he shoul have been give rest for some while till he recovers his form and gambhir should have been given chance for Worldcup. ant ways gambhie is a talented guy and will prove himself in future.

Goutham Gambir is an opener, how can selectors pick 5 opening batsman, Gambir is a good batsman but Uttappa prefered a head of him becuse of his knocks against WI, and Ganguly, sachin and Sehwag is there to open when require, where selectors can place Gambhir then?
