every time i come back from shopping, my mom would say how judicious they had been in their days and how extravagant i am. i rule out her in one sentence, " half the things are for free, BUY ONE GET ONE scheme". in retrospect, i cannot help thinking about what if i didnot go shopping? and the answer would be clearly NO INCONVENIENCE ATALL, i could have well do without that!!
you know what, my mom has been right. i am trapped into amazing marketing and selling strategies and not to mention, over hyped shopping malls and multiplexes. i have been reduced to a COMPULSIVE SHOPPER!!
our economy has seen no greater boom in consumerism in recent years or how else could you justify my maid and me using almost the same toiletries!! (no offense intended)

First off you have a maid, in America that is for richer people. Average people can hire a maid for a day once in a while.
There are many marketing gimmicks that get you to buy. Bet you never went shopping with a list and stuck with it. Also buying more that you need feeds into the consumerism.
You need to exercise self control and do not compulsive shop. Money better spent on charities would make an important difference.
We have no qualms for using similar products, your situation must be she can afford such things since you pay her really well.
Good luck in readjusting your shopping thinking.
