Hey guys, my boyfriend was in college not long ago and he was not able to graduate becuase he failed a subject. he was not able to take the subject anymore so he decided to work in a call center. Now, he is doing great, he has good feedbacks from his superiors and is up for a coaching job this coming March. the thing is that while he was still in college, a lot of people messing with him and are back stabbing him. I am so proud of my boyfriend being able to achieve something like this even though he was not able to graduate. Because here in the Philippines, education is such a big deal for securing your future.In my boyfriend's case, do you agree that anyone has the potential to be succesful even if you dont have any diploma?

yeah that's correct. actually i've read before that bill gates is a high school drop out. that's quite amazing right? one of the richest in the world...

Bill gates is a college drop-out, I believe. He graduated highschool, I believe, and went on to Harvard, but dropped out during his junior year.

I'm curious. Was there no way for him to take the necessary subject at a different university and transfer the credit? I'm not sure how it works in the Philippines, but I know transferring college credit between colleges is fairly common here. If this was fairly recent, it's possible he could still finish his degree.
As far as people being successful, I consider it a bit like this: while two people might have equal experience in a field, if one has a degree and one does not, when both apply for the same job, the individual with the degree will usually be picked for the job. Not quite sure why that is, but it seems to be fairly common these days.

actually it's possible to take the subject on a different school. but the problem is he doesn't want to continue it yet, maybe he's still depressed from it. he was a dean's lister before, it hurt his ego so much. (",)

Not all those who have a diploma are successful in life and vice versa is also true. But the fact remains that a diploma or for that matter any certifications are readily available proofs of your compentency and talents, but without that it would take more efforts to secure a job and then prove your talents.
Better to have A DIPLOMA or any such certifications, for better prospects

Well, Luck plays a quite important role in some persons life - this is the same case with your boy friend . Ya its not important that you should be a graduate so as to be successful in your life . A lot of my friends had some bad times in their life, but they struggled a lot and lot in order to be successful .
