As far as I know, the friends or relatives around me are all in debt.Whether they have debt with the bank or friend...all of them buying car, house ,etc and apply the loan. How about you? Are you free of any debts?

Yes, we are debt free. A lot of hard work and sacrifices went into getting this way. My husband and I both have worked hard be free of debt. For many years we sacrificed and went without luxuries so that we could pay double on the house payment. We did not purchase new vehicles, did not eat at restaurants. I shopped at consignment shops and thrift shops for clothing for the whole family. It has all paid off. We paid our home off 10 years early. I take what used to be the house payment and put that amount in our savings. I hope to never be in debt again. But, we can't see into the future, I can do is hope.

Congratulations on being debt free! I am following Dave Ramsey's financial plan to become debt free. I can't wait. We started with $44,000 of debt and are down to $36,000. I can't wait for it to be down to zero! Then we will pay off our home mortgage early too. I think too few people even have being debt free as a goal. It has become a way of life in America and I don't think it's good. It even took me a while to convince my husband that it is even possible to live a debt free life. He was one of those people who believed that they would always have car payment, mortgage payment, etc. Now we are doing everything we can to pay everything off. We started a blog to track our progress at: http://www.findingfinancialpeace.blogspot.com.

I wish I am free of debts but unfortunately I'm not! I have debt with the bank due to hire purchase of car. Besides that, I also have debt with PTPTN, a government loan I took to finance my studies! Now, I am facing hard time paying the instalments :)

No unfortunetly we are not debt free. We have a student loan, credit card debt, car lease and bank loan. We have rolled it all into one payment except the lease payment on the car and will be debt free in July. We will still have a car payment. I will never own a credit card again as long as I live. They are dangerous for me.

I wish I was debt free. I have the mortgage, a small car loan, medical bills, and credit card debt. My goal is to be free of most all of this debt (other than the house) in the next year and I'm working hard to achieve that! Being in debt is a bad feeling!

Not yet but we will be completely debt free by summer 2009, if not sooner. Just the house and car payment will free up over $800 per month. We are so excited and it is really hard to be patient when it is so close.
