The Arabic letters of the opening phrase of the Qur'an (the Bismillah phrase Bismillah al-Rahman al-Rahim "In the name of God, the Compassionate and Merciful") sum to the numerical value 786 in the system of Abjad numerals. Not all Muslims place emphasis on this numerological analysis, but some Muslims in South Asia use the number 786 as an Islamic symbol, and Arabic custom has it to adron Q´rans with those numbers.

Its just an old tradition. The Arabic letters of the opening phrase of the Qur'an (the Bismillah phrase Bismillah al-Rahman al-Rahim "In the name of God, the Compassionate and Merciful") sum to the numerical value 786 in the system of Abjad numerals. So the 786 is used by the Arabs to symbolise the bismillah.

This number 786 is come from sufism. I don't know how to explain this, my head is spinning already thinking of it. This can not be explained in the simple way, because it isn't simple. But OK, to make it simple that the number 786 according to sufism could be read as "Bismillahirrahmanirrahim" I don't know how this 786 has relationships with the sentence. After all, transliteration number into phrase or sentence isn't sourced from Qur'an or Hadith. So we can considered that as general knowledge none the less or more.
