How different are Northerners and Southerners?

United States

I recently relacated to Florida from the New Jersey New York area. Some days I feel like I am in China. Not knowing the language, the rituals etc. This is one of the most difficult moves I have made. I lived in California for a short while and transitioned with no problems. But the South baffles me. Are we that different? Any suggestions?

I would think just about anywhere in the country would be different from the NJ/NY area, since it has a very.....unique...(lol) reputation. Where in Florida did you move? Florida seems like it wouldn't be as different as like, Alabama or something, but if you're in the mainland area, it would be pretty "southern". But lots of Florida is immigrants, minorities, and old people, not really your typical "southern" stereotype.

There's different lifestyles everywhere... north, south, east, west, even within states and counties.. It truly depends on the situation and the morales that individuals are raised with. What part of Florida are you in? I know many larger cities in Florida resemble that of other melting pots.
