Saluki's

I would like to start a discussion on the Saluki's of Southern Illinois University, Carbondale. They are currently ranked #16 in men's basketball, the women's basketball team is the top of their conference. The football, softball, baseball, cross country, track and other teams are performing at the top of their fields as well. I'm curious to know if their are other Saluki fans out there....even if you know (or don't know) what a Saluki is.

Apparently, there are just us two Saluki fans on mylot...
It's a shame more of them didn't know the joy of watching the Dawgs play this season, but they'll learn.
So any thoughts on how likely we are to keep Coach Lowery?

Good to finally 'meet' another Saluki fan on myLot.
To keep Coach Lowery, SIU will need to redo his contract - not only increasing his pay and benefits but that of his assistants, and move forward on plans for major, major renovation of the Arena. It's going to be hard, I'm afraid - although he is very commited to the current group of kids (only two are finished).

I hope the university gets serious about keeping him...I think he could bring as much good attention to the University as any other single person has of late and well, they need all the good publicity they can get :)
