I'm Asking this because for me it has been a very long time ago, Here in The Netherlands winters are not as cold anymore as 10 years ago. How is this in your country? Please let me know where you are located. Thanks!

I think I was 13 or 14. It's been a long, long time. We've got some freezing here this year (in Maryland, USA), but it isn't consistent enough to make skating on it safe.

It's been about 10 years. I was with family up in Vermont for Christmas, and there had been snow, then a bit of rain, and then it got colder again. So there was a very smooth sheet of ice and I was able to skate down the middle of the Connecticut River, kind of far from shore on either side. It was very cool and kind of eerie.

A frozen river is natural ice, unless I'm misunderstanding what you mean by 'natural.'
