Rude people at work.

Have you ever noticed that each day you go to work, there's always that one person who's just gotta be rude to everyone? I work at Tim Hortons Donuts. I just started there last week, monday was my first day. I think it was either tuesday or Wednesday that they had me in the drive-through for the first time. I had the headset on, and I was taking money and handing people their orders. I wasn't taking the orders myself, that was for someone else to do I was told. So I got this one woman, she handed me her money, A $20 bill, and as I took the money, I handed her what she ordered, or so I thought. Turned out that someone didn't have time to take an order and put it into the computer, so we were behind. There were a whole mess of people in the drive-through that day too. Anyway, next thing I know, there's a sandwich being thrown at me through the drive-through window. She was ANGRY! She started yelling at me and saying things like "I didn't order that! I wanted a blueberry muffin!" and it went on and on and on... She was also saying "It shouldn't cost me nearly $4 for a muffin! Your so dumb!"... yadda yadda yadda. So, I apologized and talked to a manager about it and she's just sitting out in her car being angry and freaking out. She wanted her actual change back and I told her she'd have to wait so I can get into the cash drawer. She didn't like any attempt I had made to correct the situation. I spent the next twenty minutes correcting all the orders... a manager was also freaking out on me. I don't really think it was fair that so much work (that I don't even know yet) was put onto me. Rude people are so terrible!! I felt like no matter what I did, I couldn't get it right. It was awful!! Ever feel like that?

You can't take people like that personally, they're probably rude to everybody. Or maybe her husband just left her and she had to take it out on someone. You never know... If you did your best to make the situation right, that's all you could do, let it be the rude person's problem.

I know not to take it personally, but it's hard to brush it off like that you know? It's like, they're not the only ones in this world who have problems. So chill. lol. Idk this girl was pretty young.. though looks can be decieving, I dont think that she had a husband... maybe a boyfriend, If he could put up with her attitude.

All I can tell you really is dont worry about it. REALLY !! I work at Tim Hortons too and I know exactly where you are coming from. First off the Manager should have never "freaked out" on you. Yes you are supposed to look in the bag to be sure it is what is next up on the register to go out, but it is the order takers job to ring the order in so if it isnt the next order up then that person didnt pull their weight on the deal. And as far as her not liking any attempt you made to correct the situation, the manager should have stepped in to smooth things over. I always say "thats why they get paid the big bucks" LOL... In my opinion, You should have never been "thrown" onto the drive thru window on your first week like that. But dont sweat it. You will get used to the flow of things and it will get better...really it will :) We have had people actually get out of their cars in the drive thru lane to fight because one cut the other off in line. I mean .. really, over a cup of coffee??? Please.. There will always be rude people where ever you go, and always remember you cant control what other people do, you can only control how you react to them :)
