i got valentine and easter gifts from my paretns when i was a child. it was mostly candy but for easter we also got summer toys, like skipping ropes and stuff like that. i don't give my daughter anything for valentine's cause i just don't beleive in that holliday. but i give her a summer toy for easter. this year she will be getting a new bike cause she has grown out of her tricycle.

My mum used to buy us a small treat for easter if she could afford it but it was never and easter egg as we used to get one from our uncle who made them himself. I think we were lucky to get anything at all. My kids don't as we don't celebrate Easter.

For easter, I would get candy and some small toys, sometimes they were stuffed animals but not always. For VDay, she usually gave me some candy and a stuffed animal of some sort.

My dad use to give my sister and I flowers and a little box of chocolates for Valentine's Day and on Easter we got a basket of candies and a stuffed animal. Sure, we already had 20 billion stuffed animals but that's no reason not to get another cute one we'd enjoy for a little while. My mother has since donated all our old stuffed animals to charity so they didn't go to waste after all these years! Nobody NEEDS candy, but I'm sure you as an adult have a few pieces here and there and I'm sure your daughter would like a treat on these special holidays as well. Of course it's ultimately up to you!

Nah...my parents wereen't into that stuff when we were kids. They're getting the hang of it though, since I celebrate Easter with an egg hunt for all their grandkids. Sure, we have some candy and some cheap toys, but we also end with a family prayer as we go around our dining and living rooms at each easter station we had set up (Stations of the Light). Our kids have gotten into the spirit as well a couple of years ago, when my sister in law "directed" them in a mini skit showing the Resurrection :)

When I was a kid My mother started a tradition of hiding plastic eggs with low sugar treats (carob and sugar free hard candy) and a clue or riddle that helped me find the next egg. I can't wait to continue the tradition with my daughter. It's a good idea if you have more than one child that way the older one dosen't end up with all the treats.
