What is your favorite "stage" of American Idol?

Do you prefer the initial auditions, the Hollywood "boot camp" or the shows where we the people finally get to vote for our favorites? For me personally I think I like the 3rd stage best. I don't particularly enjoy the "Hollywood" week.

I prefer the show where the people are given the chance to vote. I find the audition tapes to be a bit silly at times, I can never take it seriously and it's more for a laugh than anything else. The shows where we are able to vote always has serious talents on there, who actually want to win the title of "American Idol" and it's fun listening to the judges make their comments (Simon isn't quite as rude with the real deal as he is with the auditions).

I agree that the auditions are more funny than talent. I love watching the singers develop. You can really see them improve as the show goes on. I'm excited for this week!!

I agree they can be pretty funny. Sometime though I worry that things get a little mean. But I do realize that everyone of those people decided to go on that show themselves and they should know what they are getting themselves into!

Definately the first few episodes. I don't like the actually singing part, since I find it boring, but watching the wannabes singing terribly and making fools of themselves is funny. I almost don't care about what the judges say to make fun of them, the contestants themselves are funny.

You are right, it doesn't matter what the judges say sometimes - some of those people don't need a judge to point out how BAD they are!!

The excitement really starts when the top 12 are announced. But I like to start the show during the audition stage first because my bets are based from that stage.

So do you place real bets or just fun bets with your family? I don't know if I would be able to even begin to pick from the first shows. In fact some of my fav's have already been eliminated - last night was pretty harsh!

I prefer the 3rd stage as well. The first stage of American Idol is quite annoying, especially when you see those people who are unworthy of auditioning. There are people who really are too confident of themselves, but they have no talent what so ever. The secod stage is better, 'cause you get to see the drama. I really like the part wherein they have to work in groups to produce a production number of some sort, but I still prefer the 3rd stage above all. You could see who is best of the best, and you could really see who can out shine the others. It is the test of real talent! It is American Idol!

I used to think the first stage was funny but I think it is getting a bit out of control. There are obviously people who act as strange as possible in order to get on TV even though there is no way in the world they will get on the show. And I feel like the show itself focus' so much more on those people rather than the people who have real talent. I guess they know what sells though!

If you find your friends audition please share! My old hairdressers brother was on the Seattle audition this year and he made a huge fool of himself. The sad part is that I think he thought he was actually good.
