Do you like Miyazaki films?

I love them! The animation, themes, characters, music, and absolutely everything else! But there is one element from his films that make them one of my favorites. I think it brings back old feelings from my childhood. Yeah, it reminds me of my old innocence when I wasn't so stressed and busy. Spirited Away, Princess Mononoke, and so many more movies you can look up and check out. If you already have seen at least one of his films, did you enjoy it/them? Do you have a favorite movie from his work? What did you like about his movies?

Miyazaki is amazing, you just HAVE to love his work! My favorite is actually Howls Moving Castle. It just tugged me in. My second favorite is Nausicca, valley of the wind. I absolutely ADORED that one. It's one of his older works, so if you haven't seen it you have to take a gander. Spirited Away and Princess Mononoke are close seconds. I agree, he takes you back to childhood so well. The innocence, the imagination, the strength that children have. His works are just amazing. Did you know that he's retiring soon? He's in the process of making one last film, then he's retiring. I'm so heartbroken. However, his son is making his first film. Which I'm very eager to see!

aaw It's sad to hear of his retirement. But his work will be shared as a timeless classic. I hope to see his last movie. I am also interested in seeing his son's first movie. ^^

Spirited Away, hands down! Howl's Moving Castle is a close second.. Howl in blond is so bloody sexy, and Calcifer rawrs!^^ No one beats Haku, though, for the coolness factor. I heard he's directing another movie. Can't wait!^^ ^^ ^^

May I sneak a few info on that? Actually it's directed by Miyazaki's son, Miyazaki Goro. It's based from a book from the Earthsea series. It's about the world gone haywire as people suddenly see dragons entering the world, which is many thought impossible to enter. Then begins the journey of a wandering wizard named Ged who investigates on this. Sounds very good to me. I'm going to look for this!

I'm pretty fond of Miyazaki. All of his work is so beautiful. I can't think of any Miyazaki film I've seen and not liked. I think Kiki's Delivery Service was the first one I saw, and it was so charming. I also very much liked Spirited Away and Princess Mononoke.

I still haven't seen Kiki's Delivery Service. I'm told that I'll adore it, too. I did see My Neighbor Totoro, which is a childrens film moreso than the others, and enjoyed it. I was under the impression that Kiki's delievery service was also more of a childrens film. So I assume I'll like it, too ^.^

Kiki's Delivery Service was the very first film of Miyazaki that I saw. I was 7 years old and I was entranced by it. For me, it was like watching a great disney movie like the lion king or aladdin.

I think you will, it's just so cute! I also like My Neighbor Totoro. It took me forever to get around to watching it, because my husband had seen it already and hated it. =p

Absolutely love them all! I adore a lot of Miyazaki's work. I've seen Spirited Away and Nausicaa. But I practically fall in love with My Neighbour Totoro and Whisper of the Heart. In Whisper of the Heart it is heart touching to see the searching of oneself, "What you're going to do when you grow up"? And the determination of Shizuku who finally takes on writing because she feels that her friend Seiji is a few steps forward than her in reaching his goal.

I love Miyazaki's works! :) Specially the My Neighbor Totoro, we've just viewed the movie few months back, and then we've started to collect other Miyazaki's works too. What i liked about My neighbor totoro was that it had a simple plot, but really have a hearty feel when you've watched it. Then we went on a little Miyazaki marathon and started to watch Spirited Away and Princess Mononoke. ^_^ loved Miyazaki's films!

I have two: Howl's Moving Castle and Spirited Away. I love how nostalgic Spirited Away was, and I wished desperately for a happier ending for Haku and Chihiro.:( Howl's Moving Castle was charming, though; I like it better than the book.

Yes the ending for Spirited Away did leave us wanting to see more between the two. I think of the two connected spiritually so I think it was still a good ending. I never read the book Howl's Moving Castle. I would like to though.
