Hi, although we can speak in volumes regarding rahul dravid, I specifically want to highlight certain specialities in him as compared to other players who have reached 10,000 runs in odis. 1. Lara, jayasurya, ganguly, tendulkar and inzamam have consistently been opening players or coming 1 down throughout their career, thereby having many overs to make their runs. But dravid has often come later on in the innings in his career many times and yet he catches up with them in almost equal number of matches played. What an achievement! 2. The above batsmen never were dropped from the team till they reached 10,000 runs. But dravid was dropped sometime from the odi squad for apparant slow scoring and yet he is able to bridge the gap. Astounding! 3. He is not a big hitter like the other names above. And yet, with workman like innings everytime he comes to bat, he catches up with them. Nice isn't it? 4. None of the other batsmen had the additional burden of wicket keeping, which is supposed to be the toughest fielding position requiring constant attention and easily tiresome. Just imagine, a keeper has to bend and straighten 300 times in every match besides running to the stumps whenever the batsman hits the ball. With such a tough committment, he manages to hold on to his batting and achieves this milestone, fantastic isn't it? Hearty congratulations to this silent sincere gentleman of indian cricket.

No, no, all the above batsmen were in their odi teams right from the word go except for jayasurya who briefly played in lower order and could not find constant place in the team in his very initial years. Thanks. But after coming to open, he was never dropped except when the last time lankans toured us, due to health reasons.

I think he is a great batsman and a wonderful captain... we have seen some tremendous matches under his captaincy ... i think he is slightly unlucky to get all that hammering from MEDIA guys ... he has performed fair enough with absence of some key players in his team at the peak time of series ... Did i mention that he is great gentleman too!!!

he is best at technique which we all know! with reference to all the innings played by him so far, he is the most reliable batsman in india. point to be noticed is heis the only captain in recent times for india who is playing quiet weel in form.
