Has anyone participated in the Relay For Life? I was a team captain last year and it was awesome! Such a moving experience, I've already signed up to be a team captain again this year even though the relay is still over four months away still!

Sorry you have to pardon my ignorance but which charity is this for?? Is it cancer?? Or heart perhaps??? I have never participated in a walk or run for a charity but I know when I see them covering one on the news people seem to be enjoying themselves. Great way to raise money. Good for you for getting involved and doing such a good thing.

Yes, it's for Cancer. It's through the Canadian Cancer Soceity. If you go to www.cancer.ca and select your province there will be a link for the Relay there. Basically, it's an all-night relay race. As a team captain, I will gather 9 other people for my team. Runs from 6pm to 6am and someone from your team should be on the track at all times. It's tough, but a lot of fun! Last year I walked the equivalent in laps of 25km in the 12 hour span and my team alone raised over $1,000. I will be a team captain again this year! :)

I myself am not a cancer survivor, nor have I had the misfortune of "dealing" with a family member with cancer, so I have not participated yet though this year (in NC, USA) I am planning on attending one. It isn't until May, but it's on my calendar. The overnight event seems like an awful lot of fun. I plan on taking lots of photos and hopefully the local newspaper will be interested in buying a few of them! I have two older friends who have asked me to take the photos, and they are cancer survivors. It's just a great way to participate in the fundraising for cancer research/
