I think it is a personal choice that can be good for the kids but sometmes bad for the moms. Notice I said sometimes, and it can be bad for the kids sometimes too. Some moms become overprotective or resent being always home and never getting out. Sometimes the money is so tight that the kids do not get all of the things they need. Or maybe 10 years go by and the marriage fails and now a divorced mom has to find work after being out of the job market for 10 years. It can be a hard decision to make. I think if I could have I would have only worked part time in order to help out the finances but be home for the kids when they got home from school. Sadly, I did not have that luxury.

There's no rule that women who have kids should quit working. It all depends if she wants to work or not. Nevertheless, I dont think that working mom are much lesser of a mother than those who are taking care of their kids full time. We all have our reasons. I, for an example, stopped working for a while when I gave birth to my first child, but as soon as I recovered from delivery, I returned to work.

this is my personal answer: i would rather stop because i love to be around my kids all the time...but the reality of it?i could not stop working because my husband cound not put enough food in the table...i have to give my share..it pains my heart always leaving 2 small children in the care of my mom.

why do EVER MUMS STOP WORKING LOL? i think couples can find a good balance..i am glad i was at home for the frist few years but worked part time from home..my marriage wasn't a happy one so i didn't enjoy it too much..i think once you have kids you can still follow your dreams as long as there is a good system to care for the kids..a warm home a good extended family..very important..every household has different needs and every woman has different aspirations ..i don't think we can quite generalise on this one..unless one is in a very traditional setting where the culture is more mono than complicated if you get my drift..i am waffling on now sorry..

Well, I have been a single mom for almost 7 years and I think if you have a boyfriend or fience that will take care of you that atleast you should help with as much as you can! In my case I am a single mother and a high school drop out so I can't help out with much!!!
