What to do with my fish?

So the kids have this fish (beta) which they have had for awhile. Problem is, I think the fish is sick. It has a white spot of its head as well as for some reason it looks like its bottom fin thing is injured or something. It cant swim very well and half the time is floating on its side cause it cant stay upright due to the hurt fin. What should I do? Should I put the poor fishy out of its misery and flush him, or do I just leave him and let him die? I know it is a dumb question, but the poor thing is not doing so well and I feel bad everytime I look at it :S

I keep tropical fish and it seems like your fish has white spot. However, with the damaged fin, it will not be able to swim properly and will eventually die (sorry to say that). I was told never to flush a fish down the toilet as they will just suffer more. You haven't said if you have other fish, as you will nedd to remove the sick fish away from these. If you have any other bowl or even a bucket, place the fish in this and leave it to die in peace. So sorry this has happened to your fish.
